The Laughing Pea

In a padded cell, so small and tight,
Laughed a pea through day and night.
Its jests and giggles echoed clear,
In that room of padded fear.
The doctors puzzled, quite forlorn,
By the pea’s laugh, both night and morn.
In its tiny mind, a joke did dwell,
In that curious, cushioned cell.

The laughing pea.
